Hobday Crowned Muscat Open Champion

Long time Bahrain resident and Royal Golf Club Member Sam Hobday was crowned the winner of the 44th Muscat Open. Sam, who is competing on the MENA Golf Tour this season, achieved a respectable score of 73 on day one of the 36-hole tournament. He then went on to set a new championship course record score of 70 on the second day, giving him a combined gross score of 143.

Bahrain golfers dominated the gross division of the tournament which was hosted by Ras Al Hamra Golf Club. Defending champion Yaseen Le Falher, who is also a long time Bahrain resident and young Royal Golf Club Member, clinched the runners up spot in this year’s tournament with a total gross score of 147 while Bahrain national golf team player Nasser Yaqoob came third with 153 gross.

“It’s wonderful to see two of our young players doing so well over in Oman,” commented Phil Waine, the Royal Golf Club’s Director of Golf. “Both have been receiving regular tuition from our PGA Teaching Professionals for a number of years and obviously all their hard work and dedication is really paying off.”
